Broadband NIR Dichroic Mirror with 772nm Edge Description

The 772nm IR dichroic mirror is a high-performance long-pass dichroic mirror designed for precise separation of visible light and near-infrared (NIR) bands.

  • At an incident angle of 45°, the lens achieves a high reflectivity of >98% for wavelengths less than 772nm, maximally retaining the energy of the excitation laser and improving the excitation efficiency
  • High transmittance of >90% for wavelengths greater than 780nm: fully retains the energy of the fluorescence signal, especially the low emission intensity signal, and improves the detection capability of weak signals
  • We use a hard dielectric multilayer coating, which not only provides the required spectral performance, but also has excellent environmental stability and mechanical strength. The lens surface is wear-resistant and scratch-resistant, suitable for long-term use or frequent cleaning experimental environments
  • We use high-purity fused quartz as the substrate, which has excellent optical properties and extremely low autofluorescence. It can minimize background noise and improve image clarity and the accuracy of quantitative analysis

772nm IR Dichroic Mirror Applications

  • Laser Systems
Ti:sapphire lasers typically use 532 nm (green) lasers as pump sources. The 772 nm dichroic mirror can highly reflect the pump light while transmitting the laser output generated by the Ti:sapphire crystal (650–1100 nm), which falls within the high-transmission band of the 772 nm IR dichroic filter. This enables efficient redirection or output coupling of the pump beam while allowing the generated near-infrared laser to transmit, achieving physical separation of pump and oscillation beams.
  • Fluorescence Microscopy Imaging
In multiphoton excitation, long-wavelength femtosecond lasers are used to excite the sample, generating fluorescence in the visible spectrum. The 772 nm dichroic mirror can be placed between the excitation and detection paths, allowing high-transmission of excitation light to focus on the sample and high-reflection of fluorescence to the detector, significantly improving signal-to-noise ratio.
  • Laser Processing
When using near-infrared lasers for material processing, coaxial visible illumination is often required for real-time observation or alignment. The 772 nm IR dichroic mirror enables high transmission of the processing laser to the workpiece while highly reflecting the visible illumination toward the observation camera, achieving coaxial integration of the processing and imaging light paths.
  • Near-Infrared Fluorescence Imaging
Near-infrared fluorophores such as Cy7 and Alexa Fluor 750 emit above 770 nm and must be effectively separated from excitation sources (e.g., 750 nm). The 772 nm dichroic mirror, positioned at 45° between excitation and emission paths, reflects excitation light and transmits fluorescence. This greatly enhances signal purity, reduces excitation leakage, and improves imaging sensitivity and clarity in deep tissue.
