10600/1000nm Far Infrared IR Filter Description
10600/1000nm Far Infrared IR Filter manufactured by Coligh:
- The central wavelength is 10600nm, which is close to the boundary between mid-infrared and far-infrared. The filter maintains high transmission and efficiently cuts off other wavelengths outside the passband within the 10300-11300nm range.
- We use high-precision coating technology to achieve an average transmission rate of over 90%. In the short wavelength direction, the cutoff occurs at 7.5-9.4μm, and in the long wavelength direction, the cutoff occurs at 12.2-14μm.
- We employ a multi-layer dielectric coating process, making the filter highly durable. In addition to the standard coating layers, we can also add a diamond film on the surface of the filter to enhance its surface hardness.
We support flexible customization options:
-
Spectral Range: Customizable from EUV to 30,000nm.
-
Substrates: Silicon, Sapphire, Quartz, Zinc Selenide,
-
Dimensions & Thickness: Tailored to meet specific application requirements.

10600/1000nm Far Infrared IR Filter Applications
10600/1000nm Far Infrared IR Filter plays an important role in many industrial and scientific research fields.
- Laser medical equipment
In dermatological surgery (such as scar repair, vascular treatment), filters with 10600nm as the center wavelength are usually used to filter out infrared light in non-therapeutic bands (such as 9.4 μm or 10.2 μm secondary lasers) to prevent damage to healthy tissues. - Fire warning
In early smoke detection of forest fires and urban air quality monitoring stations, 10600nm filters can be used to distinguish far infrared light (10–11 μm) scattered by smoke particles from flame radiation (3–5 μm), reducing the false alarm rate. - Astronomical observation
In interstellar dust and protostar formation regions, they are visible in far infrared radiation (10–20 μm). The 10600nm filter can be used in conjunction with a narrowband filter set to filter out the radiation of H₂O and CO₂ in the Earth’s atmosphere (6–8 μm and 14–16 μm), highlighting the weak signals of cosmic targets.
