Dielectric-Coated 60R/40T Plate Beamsplitters Description
60R/40T VIS Non-Polarizing Beamsplitters are specifically designed for the visible spectrum from 350–700 nm. They provide a stable 60% reflection (R) and 40% transmission (T) ratio under non-polarized conditions.
- Within the visible range, the reflection/transmission ratio remains nearly constant regardless of whether the incident light is S-polarized, P-polarized, or unpolarized, avoiding splitting ratio drift caused by polarization changes.
- Broadband optimized for 350–700 nm, covering the entire visible spectrum, suitable for multi-wavelength sources and laser combination applications.
- We use ion-assisted deposition (IAD) hard coating technology to enhance the adhesion and environmental durability of the beamsplitter coating.
- BK7, K9, and fused silica substrates are available, with both plate and cube beamsplitter configurations offered.

60R/40T VIS Non-polarizing Beamsplitters Applications
- Laser Power Sampling & Monitoring
When real-time, non-destructive monitoring of laser power is required while preserving maximum transmission along the main optical path, a 60R/40T beamsplitter can be inserted into the laser beam path. Since lasers are typically linearly polarized but may experience polarization drift due to temperature, vibration, or optical alignment, the beamsplitter allows most of the light to transmit through the main path, while a small portion is reflected to a high-sensitivity, calibrated photodetector. - Dual-Detector Imaging
When light from the same target or scene needs to be distributed to two different detectors with varying intensity requirements, a 60R/40T beamsplitter can be placed in the imaging or sensing path. 60% of the reflected light is directed to the detector requiring a stronger signal, while 40% of the transmitted light is guided to the detector or path with higher sensitivity or lower intensity demand. This allows for precise and intentional adjustment of signal strength allocation according to application needs. - Optical Path Intensity Balancing
In compact optical systems where beamsplitters are used to fold or combine light paths, it is often necessary to precisely control the relative intensity of each path in the final output. A 60R/40T beamsplitter enables fixed and intentional intensity ratios between different sources in the combined output beam, ensuring stable and repeatable output characteristics.
