450nm Optical Narrow Bandpass Filter FWHM 8nm Description
The 450nm bandpass filter is a high-performance optical filter designed for the blue light 440-460nm band.
- The central wavelength is 450+/-2nm, and the half-bandwidth is 8+/-2nm. It accurately matches the excitation/emission wavelengths of fluorescent markers DAPI and Alexa Fluor 450, as well as the peak wavelength of blue light LEDs, ensuring efficient use of target light.
- The transmittance in the passband is greater than or equal to 70%, optimizing the utilization of light energy and improving the system signal-to-noise ratio.
- The cut-off depth OD5 in the 200-1200nm range outside the passband effectively blocks ultraviolet, infrared and non-target visible light, reducing background interference.
- We use fused quartz or high-quality optical glass such as B270, BK7, K9 for hard coating to reduce autofluorescence interference, which is especially suitable for high-sensitivity biological imaging while enhancing the life of the filter.

450nm Bandpass Filter FWHM 8nm Applications
- Fluorescence imaging
The excitation/emission peaks of fluorescent markers DAPI and Alexa Fluor 450 are located near 450nm, but the broad-spectrum light source will emit stray light such as ultraviolet and green light, causing the fluorescent signal to be submerged by background noise, especially interfering with weak signal detection. The 450/8nm filter purifies 450±4nm blue light to ensure efficient excitation of fluorescent dyes, and blocks ultraviolet, green and infrared interference to improve image contrast. - Flow cytometry
Flow cytometry needs to detect multiple fluorescent markers at the same time, but the scattered light and non-target fluorescence of the laser (such as 488nm) may interfere with the 450nm channel signal. As a result, low-expression markers are easily masked by background noise, affecting sorting purity and data reliability. The 450/8nm optical filter only allows the target fluorescence to pass through and shields other wavelength signals. - Agricultural monitoring
Chlorophyll has a strong absorption peak near 450nm, and its fluorescence intensity can reflect the stress state of plants; organic matter in water produces characteristic fluorescence under blue light excitation, but natural light interference leads to low signal-to-noise ratio in field detection. In addition, outdoor ambient light covers a wide spectrum, masking the target signal. The 450/8nm narrowband filter can make the 450nm excitation light accurately match the chlorophyll or pollutant absorption peak, thereby increasing the fluorescence intensity.
