405nm Optical Narrow Bandpass Filter FWHM 8nm Description

The 405nm bandpass filter is a high-performance optical filter designed for the near-ultraviolet-violet band.

  • The central wavelength is 405+/-2nm, the half-bandwidth is 8+/-2nm, and it accurately matches the excitation wavelength of the violet laser GaN laser diode and the fluorescent dye Hoechst 33342 and the read-write wavelength of the blue light optical storage system.
  • The transmittance in the passband is greater than or equal to 50%, which optimizes the utilization of light energy and improves system efficiency.
  • The cutoff depth OD5 in the range of 200-1200nm outside the cutoff band effectively blocks ultraviolet visible light and near-infrared interference to ensure signal purity.
  • We use fused quartz or high-quality optical glass to reduce background noise, especially suitable for high-sensitivity fluorescence imaging.

405nm Bandpass Filter FWHM 8nm Applications

  1. Fluorescence microscopy
    The excitation peaks of Hoechst 33342 and DAPI are located near 405nm, which are used for nuclear staining or DNA detection. However, wide-spectrum light sources emit ultraviolet and visible light, which increases sample phototoxicity and background noise interferes with fluorescence signals. In addition, stray light reduces the signal-to-noise ratio, especially in super-resolution microscopy, where weak signals may be submerged. The 405/8nm filter only allows narrow-band light of 405±4nm to pass through, efficiently excites the target fluorescent dye, reduces damage to living cells by ultraviolet light, and blocks ultraviolet and visible light to improve image contrast
  2. Semiconductor defect detection
    The wavelength of 405nm violet light is short and can penetrate the surface film of the wafer. It highlights submicron defects, but factory ambient light interferes with imaging and leads to misjudgment. The 405/8nm optical filter can make a significant difference in the reflectivity of 405nm light, and the brightness difference in the defect area is increased by 5 times.
  3. Blu-ray storage
    Blu-ray storage uses 405nm laser to read and write data, but the laser diode has side lobe stray light that causes track deviation or data error. The 405/8nm bandpass filter filters out non-405nm stray light to ensure the monochromaticity of the beam.
