340/8nm Optical UVA Narrow Bandpass Filter Description

340/8nm UVA bandpass filter is a high-performance optical filter designed for the UV A band.

  • The central wavelength is 340+/-2nm, the half bandwidth is 8+/-2nm, and it accurately covers UVA fluorescence excitation and the sensitive wavelength of photocurable resin is 330-350nm, ensuring the efficient use of target light.
  • The transmittance in the transmission band is greater than or equal to 35%, optimizing the energy output of the light source and improving the system efficiency.
  • The cut-off area is OD5 in the range of 200-1200nm, effectively blocking UVB and UVC, visible light and infrared light, and reducing background noise interference.
  • We use fused quartz (JGS1) or high-transmittance UV glass (such as ZF1) combined with hard coating technology to make the filter resistant to high temperature and UV radiation aging, and there is no performance degradation in long-term use.

340/8nm UVA Bandpass Filter Applications

  1. Fluorescence detection
In cell metabolism research, the fluorescence excitation peak of NADH is located at 340-360nm. Traditional broadband UV light sources will emit light of non-target wavelengths, interfering with fluorescence signals and reducing detection sensitivity. The 340/8nm narrowband filter only allows 340±4nm UVA light to pass through, accurately matching the excitation wavelength of NADH and maximizing the fluorescence excitation efficiency. Avoid the problem of low signal-to-noise ratio caused by stray light, and difficulty in detecting low-concentration samples or weak fluorescence signals.
  2. Industrial light curing
Epoxy resin, acrylate and other light-curing resins have sensitive wavelengths concentrated in 330-350nm. Broad-spectrum UV light sources such as mercury lamps or LEDs will emit invalid UVC and visible light, resulting in energy waste and uneven curing. The 340/8nm filter can accurately output 340nm UVA light, matching the absorption peak of the resin photoinitiator, and improving the utilization of light energy.
  3. Material aging test
Solar ultraviolet rays are the main cause of material aging. Standards such as ISO 4892 require that aging tests must simulate specific UVA bands, but traditional xenon lamp light sources have a wide spectrum, including UVB and visible light, which causes the test results to deviate from the actual aging conditions. The 340/8nm optical filter can filter out UVB and visible light to ensure that the test results only reflect the impact of UVA.
  4. Environmental monitoring
Organic pollutants such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) have characteristic fluorescence signals in the UVA band, but ambient light and stray light inside the instrument will mask weak signals. This filter can provide pure 340nm excitation light to enhance the fluorescence intensity of the target pollutant.
